Signals made ashore will be from the official flagpole on the Optimist Floating Dock at the RBYC. Signals will be under the Optimist Dinghy Class flag.

4.1 When flag AP is displayed ashore, “1 minute” is replaced with “not less than 30 minutes”. This changes RRS, Race Signals – AP.

5. Schedule of races.
Thursday Oct 6th Skippers meeting 0900 hours followed by a “harbour start” at 0915 hours. 4 races scheduled. Lunch will be provided on the water.

Friday Oct 7th Skippers meeting 0900 hours followed by a “harbour start” at 0915 hours. 4 races scheduled. Lunch will be provided on the water.

Saturday Oct 8th Skippers meeting 0900 hours followed by a “harbour start” at 0915 hours. 4 races scheduled. Lunch will be provided on the water.

Sunday Oct 9th Skippers meeting 0930 hours. Harbour start at 1000 hours. 1 race scheduled. Intended course is the King Edward VII Gold Cup windward / leeward course.

No warning signal will be given less than 30 minutes after “harbour start”.

The RC at its sole discretion may sail additional races each day to either allow for future weather conditions or to make up races lost to complete the regatta. Skippers will be notified via their coaches on the water if there are to be additional races.

6. Racing areas.
The racing areas are to be Granaway Deep, Great Sound, and Hamilton Harbour. The area to be used each day will be announced at the skippers meeting on that day.

7. Course.
Appendix A shows diagrams of the courses that will be used in this regatta. All leg lengths and angles between marks are at the discretion of the RC.

8. Marks.
The Start and Finish marks shall be orange ITB‟s.
The course change mark shall be a red ITB.
All other marks shall be yellow ITB‟s.

8.1 Marks will be changed in accordance with RRS, 33. The change will be signaled before the leading boat has begun the leg, although the mark may not yet be in a new position. Any mark to be rounded after rounding the moved mark may be relocated without further signaling to maintain the course configuration. When in a subsequent change the new mark is replaced it will be replaced with an original mark.

8.2 When signaling a course change the RC shall display flag „C‟ with a red flag or a green flag in place of the compass bearing. The red flag will indicate that the mark has been moved to port. The green flag will be indicating that the mark has been moved to starboard. This modifies RRS 33

9. The Start.
Races will be started using RRS 26 with the Warning Signal given five minutes before the start. An ATTENTION SIGNAL (series of short horn blasts) may be made 1 minute before the Warning Signal. Failure of the RC to make the Attention Signal will not be grounds for protest.

9.1 The starting line will be between a staff displaying an orange flag on the RC Signal Boat on the starboard end and an orange ITB at the port end.

9.2 Before starting the first race of each day, competitors shall sail past the stern of the RC Signal Boat on starboard tack and hail their sail number.

10. The Finish
The finishing line will be between a staff displaying an orange flag on the RC Signal Boat (or an Auxiliary RC Boat) on the starboard end and an orange ITB at the port end.

11. Time Limit:
The time limit for each race is one hour.

11.1 Boats failing to finish within 15 minutes of the first boat or the time limit, whichever is later, will be scored Did Not Finish (DNF). This changes RRS 35 and A4.1.

12. Penalties.
The 720 degree turns penalty RRS 44.2 will apply.
The OA may have “on the water” umpires in attendance at any or all of the races. See RRS, Appendix P.

13. Protests and Requests for Redress.
Protest forms are available from the Race Committee (RC) once docked at the RBYC.

13.1 Protests and Requests for Redress must be delivered to the RC Signal Boat within one hour of the RC Signal Boat docking at the RBYC. The deadline time to receive protests will be posted on the notice board once the RC Signal Boat has docked.

13.2 On the last day of the regatta, a request for reopening shall be delivered: a) within protest time if the party requesting reopening was informed of the decision on the previous day;
b) no later than 15 minutes after the party requesting the reopening was informed
of the decision on that day.
This changes RRS 66.

14 Scoring.
The Low Point Scoring System of RRS, Appendix A will be used.

14.1 When fewer than five races have been completed, a boat‟s score will be the total of her races.

14.2 When from five to nine races have been completed, a boat‟s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

14.3 When ten or more races have been completed, a boat‟s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores.

15 Coach and Support Boats.
Coach, support and spectator boats shall not be in the racing area from the time of the competitors warning signal until the last competitor has finished or the RC signals a postponement, general recall or abandonment. The penalty for failing to comply with this requirement may be the disqualification of all competitors associated with the infringing coach, support personnel or spectator. This amends RRS 64.1.

The racing area will be defined to include an area 100 feet outside the line created by: 1) the marks of the course, and 2) a point 45 degrees to the starboard and to windward of the RC boat, and 45 degrees to the starboard and to leeward of the windward mark. All coach and support boats shall respond immediately to the instructions of the race officials and safety boats.
